First Bridal Shower

On August 2nd, I had my first of 2 bridal showers. My mom and I loaded up in the car with all the decorations we had bought here in TN and started out on the 9 hour trip to Michigan. We left around 3pm on Tuesday and stopped in KY where my parents mine is so my mom could spend the night with her hubby before we set out on our trip. This was an experience in itself and probably deserves its own post. The hotel is called The Daniel Boone Inn...It is in a VERY small coal town in Pikeville, KY. The main purpose from what I could tell was to house mine workers during the week who live in another state. Every week our company has at least 3 rooms there. It was the WORST hotel I had ever been in my life, and thanks to my minor league baseball life, I have stayed in some nasty hotels but this one took the cake! Lets just say I woke up the next morning covered in bed bug bites...I itch as I type this!

The next morning we got up and hit the road bright and early and were at my Grandma's house my 1pm. We spent the next few days visiting with family and getting all the final preparations ready for the big day. My aunts and cousins were sooo much help in getting everything ready! The morning of the shower they all went over to the site to get everything ready and let me stay behind to rest and get ready myself!

Wondering why there is toliet paper on the tables???

All my family came to the shower and we had the best time! I hadnt seen some of them in a LONG time so it was really good to see everyone! We spent the first part of the afternoon chit chatting and ordering our food from the wonderful menu the venue had prepared for us. After that we got to the game...this is where the toliet paper comes in! We used the beautiful table decorations and had each table pick a "model" and using the TP they had to make a wedding dress out of it! They could use the flowers, ribbon, etc. We had a BLAST! Let me tell ya my family members sure are creative! I picked 2 winners and their whole table got a gift!

I got so many wonderful gifts and really had such a good time! My parents gave me the best gift of all. My mom gave me a box with something old, borrowed, and blue along with a note attached to each one. Blue was a garter, borrowed was my great-grandmothers hankerchief, and old was a necklace with the diamond from the engagement ring my dad had given her. My new was from my dad, and it was a pair of diamond earrings! As I was opening these gifts I was a complete mess! I looked up at one point and lets just say I wasnt the only one tearing up.

The entire day was one that I will cherish and remember for years to come. I cant wait for my next shower with my "TN family" and all my friends!!

*40* days to go until I am Mrs. Henry..
